Duotone is expanding the range of the Skybrid D/Lab mid-length board with additional sizes and is focussing on a feather-light construction that should weigh between 3.4 and 4.1 kilos.

As the 2026 season gets rolling, Duotone is launching a very early update to its mid-length board with the Skybrid D/Lab 2027. The range in the noble D/LAB construction area has been expanded and the new Skybrid D/Lab will now be available in sizes of 60/70/80/90 and 100 litres. While the outline and the pure dimensions appear almost unchanged, Finn Spencer's development team has made the deck slightly wider and the underwater hull narrower. The more outboard position on the deck is intended to provide more control over the foil, while the narrower underwater hull further reduces drag when starting off, allowing the board to take off even earlier.

With the Skybrid D/Lab, Duotone has opted for a hollow construction that is reinforced on the inside by stringers. The outer shell is said to be comparatively thick and made from a sandwich biax carbon fibre: "Small jumps are no problem with it, but it's not a freestyle board for doing big jumps and flips"explains Klaas Voget from Duotone.

Thanks to this design, the weight should be between 3.4 and 4.1 kilos, depending on the size. The main advantage is a much more agile and playful riding behaviour when freeriding and downwinding, explain the designers. However, the ultra-light construction comes at a price - Duotone charges 2999 euros for the lightweight D/Lab version. Of course, the Skybrid mid-length boards are also available in standard construction (HERE is a test), which is around 750 euros cheaper.

In the Tech Talk, Finn Spencer and Klaas Voget present the new concept to you in more detail.

Information on the range and technical data is also available on the manufacturer's website.
