Starboard presents the Above, a new wingfoil board for beginners to advanced riders. The longer and narrower design of this mid-length board promises earlier planing and more stability.

Starboard is expanding its Wingfoil product line with a new mid-length board design. The Above is aimed at a wide range of riders, from beginners to advanced riders. With its longer and narrower outline, this mid-length board promises to plane earlier and faster than conventional models. "The longer, narrower shapes help you glide faster, take off easier and ride more stable and comfortable," the introduction states. "Different volumes and sizes make foiling easy for beginners, while advanced riders can enjoy effortless freeriding in all conditions."

The Above concept was inspired by the combination of Starboard's established models. It combines elements from the narrower Ace series for speed and quick take-off with ideas from the top designs of recent years. Additional volume in the nose and tail allows for even balance over the foil before take-off. The combination of a longer and narrower outline, typical of mid-length boards, easily generates speed for an early lift-off. A parallel nose with sharp rails should help to absorb touchdowns and get flying again quickly.

Versatile wingfoil board for different types of riders

According to Starboard, the Above is more stable than an Ace and more efficient than a Take Off. It is therefore positioned as a mix of these two established designs, with the brand responding to the increasing demand for trendy mid-length boards with this concept.

The Starboard Above is available in two constructions: the lightweight Blue Carbon version and the Limited Series with additional reinforcements for maximum stiffness. It is available in five sizes:

  • 5'6″ x 18″ / 59 litres
  • 6'0″ x 19″ / 73 l
  • 6'6″ x 20″ / 90 l
  • 6'10" x 21″ / 101 l
  • 7'4″ x 23″ / 120 l
