GunSails presents two new wingfoil boards: the compact all-rounder Hy-Board Nova and the mid-length Hy-Board Vybe. According to the manufacturer, both models weigh from around 5 kg and should therefore enable effortless handling on land and early take-off on the water. The construction is based on the sustainable EcoTec sandwich construction method, which uses paulownia wood instead of synthetic materials. This construction not only ensures stability and damping, but is also more environmentally friendly than conventional construction methods, according to GunSails. Features of the two wingfoil boards include the recessed deck for direct foil contact and a stable centre of gravity, the step tail and V-double concave for smooth touchdowns and the reinforced double US box and rails for maximum resilience with minimum weight.
The GunSails Hy-Board Nova is designed as a compact all-round wing board aimed at riders of all skill levels. According to the manufacturer, it is designed to accompany wingfoilers from the first take-off to relaxed freeride sessions through to explosive jumps and wave sessions. Thanks to its width and well thought-out volume distribution, the board should offer stability against tipping, but at the same time be fast and agile thanks to the narrow tail geometry. The angled tail reduces water resistance and enables an easy take-off. Another key feature is the pronounced V-double concave in the nose, which accelerates the board in displacement and gives it the necessary control and lightness for touch-downs, GunSails promises
The low stance area is intended to lower the centre of gravity and thus ensure precise control and direct power transmission to the foil. "This feature results in playful handling and intuitive riding behaviour," they say. The large Diamond Grip pad offers reliable grip for strapless sessions and at the same time great flexibility when positioning the foot straps.
The GunSails Hy-Board Vybe follows the Trend of the mid-length boards and is aimed more at ambitious riders who want to take their foil technique to a higher level. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for relaxed cruising sessions as well as radical manoeuvres in demanding conditions. The narrower mid-length shape is designed to offer a long, low-drag planing surface and sufficient acceleration to take off in even the slightest breeze. Despite its length, the Vybe should remain agile and easy to control.
The proven volume distribution with additional lift in the tail ensures a lot of stability in displacement sailing, while the narrow tail with the angled tail kick enables a particularly early and effortless take-off, GunSails promises. "At the same time, this hybrid diamond-squash-tail geometry allows fast, precise turns and immediate responsiveness," it continues. "The slight V-double concave in the underwater hull enables controlled and smooth touchdowns as well as effortless acceleration."
