Ensis presents the third generation of the Roger paraglider. The redesigned model features an ultra-light fabric and a completely new control system. Available in three sizes, the Roger is aimed at beginners and professionals alike.

According to the manufacturer, the new version of the Parawing Ensis Roger is designed to make parawing foiling more accessible. The single-skin design combines an ultra-light paraglider canopy with a revised bridle system, it says. The design allows for quick stowage whilst riding and spontaneous re-launch when needed.

More on paragliding:

Ensis offers the Roger in three sizes: 2.3 square metres, 3.5 square metres and 4.7 square metres. The parawing is designed to be suitable for initial downwind runs on lakes as well as for advanced foiling sessions in swell on the open sea. Stowing and re-setting the parawing are among its key features. According to Ensis, they have developed an optimised bridle layout for the Roger that uses shorter lines. The ultra-light fabric thus folds neatly into the rider’s hands, or so the promise goes. The rib structure keeps the wing aligned during stowage and prevents unwanted inflation. The compact shape is maintained even in damp conditions or after being folded up carelessly. When setting up again, a gentle pull on the bridles is enough for the canopy to regain its shape. The Roger is then immediately ready to fly, according to the developers.

Design and aerodynamic properties

The Ensis Roger is constructed from a lightweight paraglider ripstop fabric weighing 28 grams per square metre. This low weight is designed to improve drift characteristics and responsiveness, whilst reducing fatigue during longer sessions. Ensis incorporates diagonal ribs, twisted tips and nylon wires on the leading edge. These elements are designed to maintain aerodynamic efficiency even in changing wind conditions. According to the manufacturer, these design features measurably increase stability.

Furthermore, the Ensis Roger is said to deliver strong low-end power, which is designed to make it easier to get up on the foil. According to the manufacturer, its upwind performance is of a high standard. The Roger is aimed at riders looking to get into parawing foiling, but the manufacturer promises it also offers experienced riders the performance they desire.
