The SIC Maui Raptor Wing V3 was developed in close co-operation between athletes and designers. According to the manufacturer, a significant improvement has been achieved compared to previous models. Features of the V3 include a lower aspect ratio and increased segmented support along the front tube. This gives it more power, improved control during turns and greater stability when free-flying and riding waves.
Other changes include the redesigned strut with mini booms, which ensure "ergonomic comfort and efficient power management" when pumping, as the manufacturer writes. In addition, new windows offer more safety and fulfil the safety requirements for use in wingfoil races. The Raptor V3 is made from stiffer and more robust materials and features improved panels that reduce in-flight flutter and increase the overall longevity of the wing, it says.
The in-house SIC ExoTex material used on the front tube offers a lightweight solution with improved tensile strength and durability, according to the press release. This should enable the wing to withstand the forces and stresses during flight without increasing the weight. Less stretch allows the wing to retain its shape even under high pressure. "SIC's high-performance Triple Dura-Force material has also been revised and now offers higher breaking and tear resistance, improved UV protection, more stretch and a longer service life."
Casi Rynkowski, SIC Global Brand Manager, says of the new wing: "The Raptor Wing V3 represents a real leap forward in performance for SIC. We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers a wing that combines power - literally at the touch of a button - with speed and stability like never before. The Raptor Wing V3, accompanied by our innovative Slash Foil systems with the innovative Flip fuselage and high performance foil boards carefully crafted by Mark Raaphorst, completes a comprehensive performance wing foiling package. This exceptional combination is sure to be celebrated by the top riders."
