As an alternative to the Slick SLS model ( HERE there's a test), Duotone now also offers the Boom model in an even lighter Aluula version. Aluula is a very stiff material. This means that the diameter of the strut and front tube can be reduced without the wing becoming too soft - resulting in a significant weight saving. The fact that this basic idea works can already be seen in some wing models on the market - currently Ocean Rodeo Vayu, RRD or Duotone Aluula for parts of their Wing models.
The Slick D/Lab will be available in six sizes (4.0/4.5/5.0/5.5/6.0/6.5 square metres), with the 5.0 size set to break the 2-kilo barrier - albeit measured without the boom. Either way, the new wing is likely to be one of the lightest models on the market. Like other Aluula wings, the Slick D/Lab is also very expensive - depending on the size, it costs around 2000 euros.
Duotone Slick D/Lab - focus on manoeuvres and freestyle
The Duotone Slick D/Lab is primarily aimed at freeriders and freestylers who are looking for a maximum light wing for manoeuvres, jumps and freestyle tricks. Compared to the second Duotone model, the Unit ( HERE there's the test), the slick has a smaller span and should therefore rotate faster in manoeuvres and also offer more ground clearance when pumping. In addition, the continuous boom naturally allows a completely free choice of grip position and one-handed riding, which can also be an advantage for many manoeuvres and tricks.
