Slingshot Slingwing V2
The Slingshot Slingwing V2 from the American brand is designed as a wingsurf all-rounder and stands out on the scales with its very low weight. Find out in the test whether this is also noticeable on the water and what the downsides of the concept are.

The Slingshot Slingwing V2 on land:

The Slingwing enters the race as an all-rounder and should be suitable for wing beginners, trick riders and wave use. With a wingspan of 3.37 metres, the Slingwing V2 is moderately compact - made possible by a visible kink in the comparatively thin front tube. The wingtips are solidly protected against abrasion and an additional valve on the tube speeds up deflation. Despite its apparently solid features, the Slingshot Slingwing V2 surprises with a record-breakingly low weight on the scales - one reason for this is probably the fact that a window has been omitted. The originally very narrow handles have been slightly widened in the current series and now offer a good mix of direct wing contact and still enough space for accurate manoeuvres. For those who want to use trapeze wings, the Slingwing offers the option of mounting the ropes on the strut.

As usual, we also present the strengths and weaknesses of this wing in a short video clip:

This is how the Slingshot Slingwing V2 rides on the water:

The Slingshot Slingwing V2 confirms the light impression right from the first few metres, the wing is light as a feather and agile in the hand. If you only stand on deck passively and without pumping, the Slingwing is a little slow to take off, as it is not an absolute powerhouse. As usual, however, the threshold for take-off can be pushed down considerably with the right amount of pumping. Especially when pumping, however, you will clearly notice that the wing has a comparatively thin front tube and is therefore a little softer and less direct than many competitor products when pumping hard. Light surfers (<80 kilos) don't need to worry about this, but heavier riders might want a more direct ride.

Once lifted, however, the strengths of the Wing come into their own: the Wing is wonderfully light in the hand, the tension distribution appears very balanced and the positions of the handles fit well throughout - relaxed and effortless swinging is the result. The low weight and compact dimensions translate into outstanding handling - regardless of whether you let the wing rotate in the jibe or whirl through 360s. The neutrality when drifting is also at the highest level - when riding waves, the Slingwing always flies with maximum balance and ease.

Conclusion:

The Slingshot Slingwing V2 is an extremely light, easy to handle and extremely agile wing, especially for light riders up to 80 kilos. The target group is pleasingly large and ranges from beginners to freestylers and wave fans. Only heavy riders (>85 kilos) might find the Wing a little too soft.
