The Naish Wing surfer in the test
The Naish Wing surfer is already in its second season and has undergone fundamental updates. Read on to find out what these are and how the Wing performs on the water:

The Naish Wing surfer on land:

The Naish Wing surfer has been completely updated for the 2021 season. On the one hand, this affects the range itself, in which the 2.2 square metre size has been added for light riders and strong winds and the 6.8 is now the largest size - the 7.2 is no longer available. The price range is between 739 and 1049 euros, the test size 5.3 square metres goes for 899 euros (>> e.g. available here ). The profile has also been fundamentally revised: The front tube and strut have been made thicker, which, in conjunction with a pressure point that has been moved forwards, should give the wing more light wind power and make the Naish firmer when pumping. Naish still relies on a window, which is a safety-relevant feature, especially for beginners, but this is now slightly smaller in order to improve the possibility of folding and thus reduce the pack size. The scope of delivery includes a comparatively short hand leash. You don't need a pump, but the Wing Surfer comes with an adapter that allows you to use both standard kite pumps and SUP pumps.

The handles have also been adapted: compared to wings from other brands, these are very narrow - if you have large hands and are travelling with gloves in the cold season, you would almost wish for a little more space. On the other hand, the grips are consistently comfortable and provide good, direct contact with the wing. If you want to do without the transfer handles ("Y-handles"), you can remove them at any time; they are only velcroed on. The other features of the Naish Wing-Surfer are also convincing across the board - well-protected wingtips and a very high-quality yet light-looking canopy material leave nothing to be desired.

On the water:

The Naish Wing-Surfer immediately stands out as an above-average light and handy wing, which in our test size of 5.3 square metres looked more like a 4.8. The thicker tube diameter has a positive effect when pumping, even when 90 kilos are pulling on the handles, the wing never warps and converts the pumping strokes into power without delay. Compared to other wings, the Wing-Surfer is not one of the absolute steam hammers, which instantly takes off extremely powerfully when ridden passively. However, given that the Naish is lighter and more balanced in the hands than average and can be pumped easily when required, the light wind suitability can definitely be described as good. As the handles are comparatively narrow, as already mentioned, you have to grip them quite precisely when manoeuvring and, as a complete beginner, there is less room for mistakes. On the other hand, the handles offer very direct contact with the wing, which is a noticeable advantage, especially during jumps and rotations. In manoeuvres, the Naish Wing-Surfer is fully in its element anyway, as it can be rotated in a wonderfully playful way, also due to its small wingspan, and drifts along nicely if required. And in the upper wind range? Here, too, the Wing shows no weakness and keeps the profile very stable, the pull distribution remains even on both hands even in strong gusts, allowing you to ride the Wing-Surfer for a very long time in a relaxed manner.

Conclusion:

The Naish Wing-Surfer is a very playful and agile wing with a large wind range and plenty of potential for manoeuvres and jumps. This makes it suitable for beginners who are looking for a light all-rounder, as well as for more experienced wing surfers for jumping and use in the waves.
