According to the manufacturer, the name of the model is inspired by the legend of the sleeping dragon in the Haleakala volcano on Maui - the home island of SIC. Innovative materials are to be used in the development of the Dragon Wing, including a laminate called ALUULA AERIS x FX86, which has been placed on three quarters of the front tube. This construction is intended to increase rigidity. A Dacron material with high tear resistance and low elongation is also used. The Dragon model is priced between 1299 and 1729 euros and is therefore significantly more expensive than its sister model, the Raptor, due to its material features (HERE is a test of the alternative model).
The design of the SIC Dragon Wing has a medium to high aspect ratio. A segmented centre strut in combination with a carbon boom aims to allow freedom of movement for manoeuvres while providing control for racing and surfing. The Dragon Wing is offered in nine sizes from 3.0 to 7.0 square metres to cover different wind conditions. Each Dragon Wing comes with boom, bag, leash and pump installed.
