The Freestyle Pro Tour breakfast television programme from Vieste started punctually at half past eight: a welcome, interviews, a look at the statistics and the wind and weather forecast - there was nothing missing here. A very attractive programme, presented by Greta Marchegger and Sandy Clunas.
The contest is currently on standby. However, it looks like the wind will reach at least foil strength during the course of the day. There is therefore a chance that you will be able to watch the first official international competition in foil freestyle on the Freestyle Pro Tour stream today - that could be exciting. Freestyle on foil and fin in Vieste
Over twenty men and five women are registered for the seven-star contest in Vieste. There will be a normal freestyle competition (with fin) with €15,000 in prize money and a separate foil style competition with €10,000 in prize money. The foil freestylers only need a good ten to twelve knots of wind to get the single elimination rolling. With the current very nice weather in Vieste, it is very likely that the thermal effect will kick in during the course of the day and provide the freestylers on the foils with sufficiently strong wind. So, it's worth taking a look. Have fun.
