News: Marc Paré injured - title hopes ruined?Photo: Fish Bowl Diaries
Paré was still fit for the first World Cup of the year in Japan.
The young Spaniard Marc Paré, who is regarded as one of the greatest talents in the World Cup, injured his foot while riding a wave on Maui. Diagnosis: metatarsal fracture.

... Or, to be more precise, the Lisfranc injury known among windsurfers, with which Köster, Proffitt and Co. have already had to contend with. In this type of metatarsal fracture, one or more tarsometatarsal joints in the foot are destroyed at the same time. The healing process can be correspondingly lengthy.
In a short statement, Marc emphasises that he hopes to be fit again by the Pozo event at the end of June. However, he will definitely miss the 5-star World Cup in Chile next month. However, as only the four best results count towards the annual ranking, there is still hope that the talented Spaniard will win the eagerly awaited world title if he is fit again by Pozo.

"I wanted to slide into a taka after the turn, got stuck and the powerful lip of the wave collapsed on me...stuck in the foot strap, my heel came up and the pressure of the foot strap was just too much and crushed my foot."

Operation in Rosenheim

In his post, Paré expressly thanks the foot specialist Dr Altenberger in Rosenheim, who is also the team doctor for the DFB Women's U20 team, for the quick help and successful operation.
He would also like to thank his family and sponsors for their support during these difficult times. Just back under contract with Simmer and with big goals for the season, this is a very unfavourable time for such an injury. But when is the time ever favourable? Professional athletes like Marc never need such injuries.
But "Comback incoming!", he writes. That sounds good. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing Marc back in action very soon.
