The first easterly storm of the year also caused some serious ripping on Rügen. You can see the best pictures from Neu Mukran in the gallery.

At the beginning of the week, a low-pressure system initially brought plenty of rain, but later in the day there was also sunshine and plenty of wind from the north-east. Not only in the Bay of Lübeck the weather attracted numerous water sports enthusiasts to the water, and the conditions on Rügen also made the hearts of all wave fans beat faster.

The first choice in winds from the north-east to east-north-east is always the wide bay south of the Mukran ferry harbour. There is probably no other place on the German Baltic coast where such high and powerful waves reach the shore. On this day, Neu Mukran provided the best conditions for riding the waves and jumping. The gallery by local Marcus Friedrich, who not only showed his skills on the water but also behind the camera, illustrates just how good the conditions really were.
