Citroën is continuing its long-standing partnership with Rip Curl and is launching a new special edition of the electric Ami. The Ami Rip Curl builds on the "Ami Buggy Rip Curl Vision" study presented in autumn 2025 and transfers its design approach to a series version. The black base coat combined with eye-catching graphics in a wave look creates a unique visual identity. According to the manufacturer, the concept is based on surf culture and brings "a bit of beach feeling into everyday urban life".
The cooperation between the two brands has existed since 2016 and has already been cultivated across several models. With the Ami Rip Curl, the focus is now specifically on the younger target group, which combines environmentally friendly mobility with an expressive design. Xavier Chardon, CEO of Citroën, explains the cooperation: "I am very pleased about the renewed partnership between Citroën and Rip Curl - two brands that develop stylish, functional products that promote well-being and leisure, an escape from everyday life. Together we share a vision centred on adventure, style and freedom - designed for the younger generation. The Ami Rip Curl epitomises the free spirit and creativity that unites both brands."
The special edition comes in two versions. The "Sunrise" variant features yellow accents and will be delivered from June 2026. "Sunset" comes with purple details and will follow from August 2026. Both versions are based on the black "Black Night" bodywork and get their new look from coloured rip-curl graphics. The graphics are applied to the door sills, side windows and rear. The front logo appears in yellow for Sunrise and in white for Sunset. A rear spoiler gives the compact city car a sporty appearance. The white 14-inch rims form a contrast to the dark base colour. The colour concepts continue in the interior: three storage compartments in yellow or grey, a matching bag hook on the passenger side, two colourful floor mats and door nets as well as a partition net and a smartphone holder round off the package.
Citroën is equipping the Ami Rip Curl with a 5.7-inch colour display behind the steering wheel. According to the manufacturer, the new display improves the legibility of vehicle information and modernises the interior compared to the previous series models. A smartphone holder and a panoramic roof are also included. The compact dimensions of 2.46 metres in length and a turning circle of 7.20 metres make the vehicle manoeuvrable.
Technically, the Ami Rip Curl corresponds to the series model. The purely electric drive achieves a top speed of 45 kilometres per hour. The range is up to 75 kilometres without a charging stop. Charging takes around four hours from a household socket. The vehicle remains a two-seater and is therefore aimed at users who are primarily travelling alone or in pairs. A category AM driving licence entitles the holder to drive the Ami from the age of 15.
The official premiere of the Ami Rip Curl will take place on 9 May 2026 at the Rip Curl Nations Trophy in the O2 Surftown MUC in Munich. The vehicle can also be seen at the stops on the European GromSearch tour. The tour will make stops in Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Portugal and France. The final of the GromSearch Tour will take place again in Munich in September 2026 and will bring together the best European surfers under the age of 16.
