Snack on board? Whether it's Leerdammer or Leberkäs, salami or cucumber - with its cork handle and blade guard, the Mora Floating Knife is not only comfortable, non-slip and safe to hold, it even floats if it slips out of your greasy fins. A classic for professional fishermen and just the right knife for SUP tours? There is also an alternative with a saw edge for cutting through ropes - this model with a smooth blade is certainly more versatile. All Morakniv knives have been manufactured for 130 years in Mora, in the far north, in the lake district of Sweden, where they know all about use on the water. The Floating Knife costs 30.99 euros >> available here .
"Key overboard" is probably one of the most common manoeuvres among boaters. With the small cork buoy on your key ring, pocket knife and anything else you hold dear, you are on the safe side. And on land, you can show your colours as a water sports enthusiast. As an additional buoyancy aid for otherwise non-floatable mobile phone cases or clipped directly onto a waterproof mobile phone - also an option. At a price of 5.99 euros, it's cheaper than key insurance. Info about A.W. Niemeyer->
The waterproof duffel bag with roll-top fastener is the classic piece of board luggage and is actually part of every decent tour. Light in weight, variable in size, easy to clip under the net and a spacious, waterproof "safe" for a change of clothes and equipment. A good companion when pure function takes centre stage. The "house brand" of the renowned boat outfitter AW Niemeyer costs 25.99 euros. Info about A.W. Niemeyer->
At 880 grams, a hammock like the PRO HAMMOCK from Ticket to the Moon is probably the lightest, most comfortable and mosquito-proof shelter for camping and SUP tours. You don't need a tent or a sleeping mat, just two trees, your sleeping bag and a balmy full moon night to make every SUP trip a "dream". The harness is particularly tree-friendly, yet thin and light, and comes with two carabiners. Price: 139,95 Euro >> available here .
Classic, white LED lighting is perhaps good for basement work or in the operating theatre. For a cosy après-SUP, it ranks at around minus two on the mood scale from zero to ten. The LEDLENSER cannot replace a flickering campfire, but this mini lantern (9.6 cm high in total) with its special "warm light" provides a nice side light with quite a cosy atmosphere - and at the highest light level provides enough light for most night-time activities. The special LEDs are economical with the battery as usual and still provide pleasant ambient lighting with their warm colour temperature. The beautiful glow costs 39.90 euros >> available here .
From paddling on the Alster directly to strolling through the city centre. The waterproof "Transporter WP 30" from Osprey protects all the important items and a change of clothes on the board in a particularly exclusive design suitable for the city centre and with elegant features. The material looks almost like shiny leather, the carrying system is particularly elaborately cut and equipped, with back padding and shoulder straps with a ventilation system. An attached compartment holds items such as a thin bath towel, cap or T-shirt, while two integrated compartments on the inside keep small items organised. On the outside, there is another hidden compartment with a zip for quick access to important small items. All seams are waterproof and the roll-top fastener has been proven to keep the hatch very well sealed, even when swimming. 170 euros will be deducted from your shopping credit >> available here .
The vegan products from New Layer are "free from microplastics or liquid plastic" and certified as "reef friendly". "Tested on athletes, not animals", the manufacturer also promises.
The packaging is made from recycled plastic and should also be recyclable. That's all we can currently offer. In practice, we liked the pleasantly subtle fragrance and the ease of application. Both creams are absorbed quickly and even the "50" does not leave a white paste on the face and fingers. The cream also withstood the "water test" and two hours of sunshine paddling well and effectively. Price 24.95 euros (Face and Travel 50+, 75 ml/27.95 euros; New Layer 20, 200 ml/24.95 euros) >> available here .

Deputy Editor in Chief surf
Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
