Because pump foiling also works without wind on relatively small areas of water, it is the ideal discipline for bringing water sports to the city centre. For this reason, the 1001grad Events team, which has already initiated two popular competition formats with the Racer of the Sea and the Winger of the Sea, has teamed up with Kiel Marketing.
As part of the annual Bootshafensommer in Kiel's city centre, the Pumpfoil Festival will take place for the first time this year. It starts on Saturday 22 July, the opening day of the Bootshafen summer. At the Pumpfoil Festival, participants will compete in three different categories. These include sprint duel, freestyle and boardercross. In the latter, the pumpfoilers have to overcome various obstacles and tasks. At the end, the winners of each category are crowned on the main stage as part of a grand award ceremony and can look forward to the title of "Pumpfoil Champion 2023".
Interested pump drivers can apply for the maximum of 20 starting places at events@1001grad.de apply. There will be an extra classification for SUP pumpers if there are enough registrations.
Decathlon will be providing water sports equipment, which visitors can try out free of charge after the official competition, which runs from 11am to 2pm. Sabfoil, Vayu, Axis and Ensis will be exhibiting their latest pump foil equipment, which can be tested by all participants. Mio Boards will be presenting their specially developed world first in the pump foil sector. The team from Love-My.Earth will also be on board to introduce you to their sustainable shopping concept and some of their products.
The German Pump Foil Association will also be on site with an information stand to answer all your questions about pump foiling. For the participants, the co-operations also mean that everyone will receive a riders package which includes a goodie from Decathlon, a welcome box from Love-My.Earth worth €64 and drinks from Red Bull, as well as snacks.
In addition, all participants will receive photo material from the professional photographer for their own use. Manufacturer Vayu will also cover the entry fee of €29 for its team riders. To take advantage of this discount, an email from Vayu with the name of the team rider must be sent to events@1001grad.de before booking.
There will also be the latest pump-oil equipment on display around the boat harbour and experts will be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have. Other water sports activities can also be tried out, although wetsuits will not be available. The boat harbour summer also includes numerous food and drink stands and live music.
