On Sunday, the North Sea showed itself at its most powerful and provided the backdrop for a spectacular finale in Hanstholm. The massive swell and wind, which were ideal for the very small sails, would have made for spectacular conditions even at a professional World Cup event.
Anton Richter on course for the World Cup with the U21s
Anton Richter came out on top in the boys’ U21 category, whilst Arne Jörn shared second place with Leon Maethner. Ben Behrendt finished fourth, ahead of Oscar Hjertberg from Sweden. Richter’s performance consolidated his lead in the World Tour overall standings and put him in a promising position for the remaining events of the season.
Peter Gobisch shared first place in the U18 category with Danish home favourite Bjørn Olesen, who fought his way onto the podium despite an ankle injury. Emil Skov Nielsen finished third alongside Jens Juul-Olsen. Both Danes compete for the NASA Surf Club and put in strong performances in front of their home crowd.
Sibling successes in the girls’ events
Trine Gobisch dominated the girls’ U18 category, ahead of Bobbi-Lynn De Jong. Frida Miron completed the podium in third place. In the girls’ U21 category, Emma Miron, Frida’s sister, came out on top. Helena Lale followed in second place. The youngest age group, the U15s, was shared between Anton Gobisch and the Italian Liam Calo.
