Two races were held at the start of the Formula Windsurfing European Championships in Heiligenhafen. Vincent Langer and Fabian Wolf fought a close duel at the top.

Despite a poor wind forecast, Heiligenhafen surprised everyone yesterday with surfable conditions. As a result, two races were held on the opening day of the season finale of the Multivan Windsurf Cup, which is also the European Championship in Formula Windsurfing. Vincent Langer won both races of the day, which were started in full fleet mode with all 22 registered riders. With an ideal score of 2.0, Langer leads the European Championship standings.

Langer fought exciting duels with Fabian Wolf, who has just returned from the iQFoil World Championship in The Hague. The lead between Langer and Wolf changed hands several times in each race. As the newly crowned German Foil Slalom Champion, Wolf was only narrowly beaten by Langer. With two second places, Wolf has 4.0 points and is currently in second place overall.

Strong German youngsters

Tomaz Romanowski from Poland follows in third place. With third and fourth place, he has 7.0 points. These three also won the "LVM Versicherung Grand Prix" including prize money, which is awarded in the DWC for the best three in the first race.

Spain's Fernando Martinez del Cerro and Meno Büchler from Kiel complete the top 5, with Meno Büchler also being the best Youth U20. Leo Richter follows in second place in this age group. Third place in the Youth category also goes to Kiel: Felix Wehkamp completes the podium candidates after day one of the European Championships. Fifteen-year-old Paul Regber, who is celebrating his regatta debut in Heiligenhafen, dominated the Junior U-17 classification.

Good winds are also forecast for Friday. Further races can be expected from 10.30 a.m. on the adventure pier in Heiligenhafen. The Formula Windsurfing European Championship as part of the Multivan Windsurf Cup Heiligenhafen runs until Sunday. The new European champions will be crowned at 17:00 during the award ceremony.
