The final of the Freestyle Pro Tour 2025 on the Greek island of Paros had another surprise in store. The double elimination is over, the official results have been finalised, so there was another fun contest under the name "Game of Surf". Inspired by the "Game of Skate" from skateboarding, the riders competed against each other in direct duels. They had to take it in turns to demonstrate and imitate freestyle manoeuvres. Anyone who failed to land a trick or fell while performing a move received a letter. The first person to complete the word "SURF" was eliminated. Sounds like fun!
Even during the warm-up phase, it was clear that the riders saw the new format as an opportunity to unpack their full repertoire. Bodhi Kempen from Team Severne practised Funnell Clocks before his first heat - a challenging rotation with simultaneous sail shifting. In the competition itself, the participants then focused on unusual manoeuvres to throw their opponents off their stride. Eugenio Marconi surprised his opponent Tigo Kort with a Shaka Cana Brava and secured victory in their duel. Jacopo Testa proved to be a master of the new format. He dominated his heats with his versatility and technical finesse. Against Felix Bittdorfer, he first showed improved versions of his moves before closing the bag with a huge air spock. Takumi Moriya was also unable to stop Testa, who once again shone with a triple spock and air spock.
In the semi-final, Jacopo Testa faced the Belgian Yentel Caers. Testa opened with a toad, followed by an unusual variation of the clock diablo. But after a fall on the next move, Caers equalised. Testa's showpiece move finally decided the match - a stylish air kabikuchi, which Caers was able to imitate but could not land with the same quality.
The final developed into a thrilling duel between Jacopo Testa and the overall winner of the event, Lennart Neubauer. Neubauer started with a mistake, which Testa immediately capitalised on. The Italian performed a switch clew-first flaka, followed by a shove-it spock. Neubauer countered with a Flaka Ponch and Double Burner, levelling the score. In the all-important final round, Testa landed a massive Air Spock, which Neubauer was unable to counter. Jacopo Testa was thus crowned the winner of the new "Game of Surf"!
At the final prize-giving ceremony, Lennart Neubauer was honoured as the overall winner of the event and Pier Bongianni as the winner of the youth and junior categories. This marked the end of a successful and innovative freestyle event on Paros. The Freestyle Pro Tour will now take a short summer break before the finals of the Tow-In and Foilstyle competitions at Lake Geneva in Switzerland from 8 to 12 October.
