Things could get exciting again for the slalom riders in late autumn. The wave and freestyle titles, on the other hand, will be awarded on Sylt.
The PWA has announced new information about the tour schedule for the current season. The World Cup on Sylt is officially confirmed ( surf reported ) and will be the final for the waveriders. Sylt is the only event in freestyle, so the men's title will also be awarded here. The women will go home empty-handed in this discipline in 2022.
Things are getting exciting in the slalom: according to the PWA, there will be two more races after the event on Sylt. A slalom cup for men and women is being planned for the end of October on Tenerife, where the wave event was postponed in the summer. This will almost be a home game for many of the Worldcuppers, as the majority of the field has been training together in the area off El Medano during the winter months for many years.
He is also due to travel to Japan for a Slalom World Cup in November. Strong winds are expected in Yokosuka near Tokyo at this time of year, so the chances of an exciting season finale are good. However, both Japan and Tenerife have not yet been officially confirmed and the exact dates have not yet been finalised.
There has only been one two-star slalom event in Croatia so far, which does not count towards the World Championship rankings. Nevertheless, many of the world's top professionals were at the start, with the winner being Italian Bruno Martini. The waveriders have already been allowed to compete twice: Bernd Roediger won the Down-The-Line event in Cape Verde, while Philip Köster and Iballa Moreno both took victory ahead of Pozo.
There is one more highlight for the juniors before the World Cup on Sylt. From 11 to 17 September, all U20 waveriders will be competing at the Cold Hawaii PWA Youth Windsurf World Cup in Klitmøller.
