Windy Saturday at the surf festival powered by SALITOS: plenty of action on the water with freestyle, racing and testing without end. The news of the day: The new festival location 2027!

The most moving news of the day came in the evening after the award ceremony for the Racer of the Sea and the German Freestyle Battle: Torsten Schulze announced the new location for the 2027 surf festival. Just a few hundred metres away, directly on the west pier, next year on Ascension Day, the festival will once again be open for testing and partying (Find out more about the new location for the surf festival here).

The day brought the longed-for wind, although it was rather capricious with a few passing rain fronts. However, the majority of the exhibitors' test equipment was on the water almost all the time, and there was plenty of activity at the manufacturers' registration desks. At the second coaching session for surf readers, editors Manuel Vogel and Julian Wiemar took to the water with some of the participants to give first-hand tips on harnessing, loop surfing, jibing and more.

Freestyle show by Lennart Neubauer

While the Racer of the Sea was able to run several rounds, the German Freestyle Battles had to hope for the phases with more wind. You will find all the results here in the next few days! In the evening, the sporting highlight was the freestyle show directly in front of the beach. As there was too much wind for a tow-in, the team spontaneously switched to a boardercross: a flying start from the beach, a lap around the boat and a move on each side. In the first round, Lennart Neubauer proved that he is not only technically brilliant, but also has the very best condition for pumping and the final sprint on the beach. Lennart, who was brought to the festival by Blackroll, also won the second round in more wind. Afterwards there was a super session - winner: Neubauer!

At the end on Sunday the wind is supposed to calm down again, then you can browse through the exhibitors again in the best sunshine!

His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”.
