The best weather, the best atmosphere at the surf festival on Fehmarn: the sun was shining on Friday too, and the wind picked up during the afternoon. Numerous windsurfing enthusiasts were out on the water and on the beach.

Perfect dramaturgy at the 2023 Surf Festival: After an almost windless start yesterday, a breeze set in during the course of the day today. Lots of windsurfers took advantage of the relaxed conditions for light wind fun, their first attempts with the wing or on the foil or for SUPing. And tomorrow, Saturday, the forecast promises enough wind to test the exhibitors' smaller boards and sails.

On stage, surf expert Manuel Vogel gave an introduction to the world of foils and explained the differences between the individual types. Prior to this, personal trainer Sascha Lange had already given tips for surfer workouts, with around 50 participants taking part in his morning yoga and training session on the beach!

Compete against your buddy on the Windsurfer LT

In addition to the boot Düsseldorf pump-oil launch ramp and the Bitburger 0.0% SUP Challenge, visitors were also able to take to the water on a windsurfer LT. Two boards including sails are available at the surf stand, with which two surfers can challenge each other. Two buoys mark the course, which has half-wind, upwind and downwind sections for a real regatta feeling! You can still hire the LT windsurfers from surf in the coming days, just register at the surf stand right next to the test centre!

More than 1000 windsurfers have already registered as testers, and you can still register online or on site at any time! And the prospects of being able to try out the equipment in a decent wind are very good for the weekend!

The Racer of the Sea regattas are also on the programme for Saturday and Sunday. The German Freestyle Battle with almost 50 participants is also in the starting blocks and will get underway as soon as there is enough wind! The Surf Festival, the biggest windsurfing event in Europe, continues until Sunday, so come along!

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
