Windsurf Classics: The F2 ‘Terminators’ of the nineties in action
This promotional video from F2, with its quintessential nineties look, is called “Terminators having fun”. Josh Stone, Björn Dunkerbeck, Jutta Müller and co. showcase the F2 range, featuring Axxis, Xantos and other cult boards.

Another gem from Paul van Bellens’ video collection: “Terminators having fun” was released by F2 in the mid-nineties to promote its own range of boards. During the photoshoot on Maui, the team riders grab the latest Axxis, Xantos, Sputniks and the like, and blast back and forth along Maui’s North Shore on them. The shaper duo Peter Thommen and Werner Gnigler then explain the characteristics of these long, narrow ‘toothpicks’.

Particularly touching is the scene where newcomer Josh Stone, looking rather at a loss, tries to rig a slalom sail but gets stuck on the camber rings (“I don’t know what those plastic bits are, but I suppose they’re meant to stay on the mast”).

And, of course, a thrilling crash section is a must to round things off. It’s just that the high-energy synth music is more suited to on-hold music or lifts than to a windsurfing video.

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
