To kick off the 2027 range, Duotone is unveiling its wave equipment and freestyle set-up, most of which features the premium D/LAB custom construction. The most striking change is the name of the waveboards: instead of Grip 3 and 4, we now have Cosmic 3 and 4; the brand has already used this designation for SUP hardboards available. Two weeks after the top-of-the-range models, the SLS models, along with the Freewave board and the Duke, will be available on 23 September.

Duotone Cosmic 4 – a quad setup from the World Cup

Duotone states that the Duotone Cosmic 4 D/LAB is a fully customised World Cup waveboard. It is built exclusively to order, including matching custom fins. Volumes range from 53 to 106 litres. The board is designed to handle whitewater as if it were five litres larger and turn as if it were five litres smaller. Shape features include a three-stage rocker line and ‘synchronised curves’. The curves are accentuated around the mast track and behind the rear strap for powerful bottom turns and explosive top turns. A flatter centre section, more nose rocker and the Kickstarter Tail ensure progressive tail kick, clean water separation and tight top turns, writes Duotone in its press release. Additional width and greater outline curvature are designed to provide stability when navigating white water whilst also enabling radical turns. For 2027, new asymmetrical side fins have been integrated for more drive and grip, whilst a revised lay-up saves between 100 and 200 grams in weight. The Duotone Cosmic 4 is available in three colour variants.

Duotone Cosmic 3 – Tri-fin for down-the-line and Euro waves

According to the manufacturer, the Duotone Cosmic 3 D/LAB is optimised for powerful groundswell conditions, windy European waves, down-the-line surfing and jumping. Each board is precisely shaped using CNC technology and then hand-built. The D/LAB full-custom production process guarantees exact rocker, consistent flex and precise fin positions. The board is available in a tri-fin setup with slot and US boxes and covers volumes ranging from 82 to 106 litres. The 2027 update features a revised tuck line in the mid and front sections for improved acceleration and control during turns. Increased nose rocker ensures clean passage through white water, whilst the optimised tail outline responds more quickly with greater grip when edging. New asymmetrical side fins provide additional drive and stability in turns. An optimised lay-up also reduces weight by 100 to 200 grams, depending on the board size. The flat double concave underfoot transitions into a mono concave towards the tail, enabling maximum control at high speeds. The Duotone Cosmic 3 is available in three colourways.

Duotone Super_Hero – Wave sail with an extended wind range

The Duotone Super_Hero D/LAB is Duotone’s flagship wave sail for advanced to very experienced wave riders who mainly focus on down-the-line wave riding, explains the manufacturer. It is designed to “disappear” on the water, allowing the rider to concentrate fully on the wave rather than on their kit. The core promises are a significantly expanded wind range, the lowest possible dynamic sail weight and uncompromising durability. Thanks to the wide wind range, a two-sail quiver – for example, 5.0 and 4.2 – can cover the range that would otherwise require three classic wave sail sizes, Duotone promises. Technically, the sail utilises Carbon X-Ply in high-stress areas such as the clew, top and foot to ensure minimal stretch and direct power transfer. Standard X-Ply in the centre panel provides power. The construction, which uses welded rather than sewn panels, saves 150 to 200 grams in weight. The joints are stronger than sewn alternatives whilst maintaining the same film and laminate thickness as the standard Super_Hero. The sail is available in sizes from 3.0 to 5.7, with four battens across the range and weights from 2.20 to 2.95 kilograms. The Duotone Super_Hero is available in three colour variants.

Duotone Skate – Freestyle board with D/LAB construction

The Duotone Skate, featuring the D/LAB construction method offered for the first time, is a handcrafted freestyle windsurf board for experienced and advanced riders looking for new-school freestyle, power moves, sliding tricks and competition use, according to Duotone. It is based on the previous SLS construction but has been further developed using the D/LAB construction method. Whilst maintaining the same weight, the board is now even more durable, offering a more direct and precise riding experience. The aim is to eliminate the usual trade-off between an extremely light, high-pop board that is prone to breakage. Double and triple moves can be performed reliably without having to go easy on the board. The compact, radical shape ensures rapid acceleration, high pop, fast rotations and controlled landings, allowing riders to string moves together seamlessly. A finely tuned tail delivers explosive acceleration and top speed, whilst the flat nose is specially optimised for clean, controllable sliding tricks. The voluminous tail maintains speed in switch stance and through wind holes. The D/LAB construction gives the board a very direct, precise and responsive ride at a fully customised level. The Skate D/LAB is available in four sizes with volumes of 86, 91, 98 and 107 litres, each including an F_Style 17.5-centimetre power fin; weights range from approximately 6.1 to 6.7 kilograms.

Duotone Idol – Freestyle sail for new-school manoeuvres and foiling

According to the manufacturer, the Duotone Idol is a windsurf freestyle sail developed specifically for advanced to very experienced new-school freestylers and competitive riders. Technically, it remains unchanged, but its design has been updated. It features a battenless centre section with greater spacing between the foot batten and the next batten up. This allows power to build up smoothly and progressively rather than in jerks; the sail becomes neutral during the duck and reloads in a controlled manner after rotation. The Idol is available in sizes ranging from 3.6 to 5.2 square metres with four battens. It features a foil eyelet and will be available in an additional black and purple colourway from 2027.
