The "Test 2022: Wave sail 4.5 square metres" from surf 11-12-/2022 can be found here->
On land:The Neilpryde Combat Pro 4.5 wave sail was developed with new 3D software and given more belly in the lower section and a softer basic characteristic by designer Robert Stroj. The sail top has been made slightly wider, but should now be able to twist better. Overall, the Combat makes a flawless and extremely solid impression in terms of material thickness and features.
On the water:The fact that the 4.5 is not one of the lightest wave sails on the scales (surf measurement 3.21 kilos) is hardly noticeable on the water. The Combat stabilises itself well during the start-up phase, is stable in the hand and appears light and agile at all times. The damped profile draws a full belly, which ensures very good planing performance. On the straights, the Combat absorbs impacts pleasantly and is wonderfully balanced in the hand - there are hardly any annoying load changes, which makes life easier not only for wave riders. In the waves, the Pryde sail combines lightness with a lot of drive, which allows you to carry the speed well through the bottom turn and convert it into a powerful cutback. At the upper wind limit, the pressure point also remains stable for a long time, although you can then pull the clew flat to give the soft profile a little more neutrality - even then, the Combat is not an extremely neutral "off-sail". Compared to other test models, the Combat Pro is in the absolute top group in terms of planing performance, drive and handling, but in the midfield in terms of neutrality.
More than ever, the new Combat epitomises the balanced all-rounder that shines in typical North Sea and Baltic Sea conditions, but with which you can also go into battle in the Ijsselmeer chop or in Hookipa without batting an eyelid.
