Anyone who is just learning to wingfoil is faced with the question of how to get the board and wing safely out of the water onto the shore and secure the equipment accordingly. Regardless of whether you are travelling with the equipment into the water or out of the water towards the beach, the following always applies: Always carry the board with the sharp foil on the windward side ("windward"). Because the wing always blows to leeward like a flag, the wing and foil cannot normally get in each other's way and damage to the wing is avoided. We will show you step by step how to land safely in the following picture gallery - click through!
One final tip: If you want to secure your equipment on the beach for a short break, as described above, it is best to store it where the wind comes in freely. This way, your wing will always remain stable downwind. It can be problematic if you store your equipment in the lee of larger obstacles (buildings, vehicles, vegetation). This often creates turbulence, which can cause your wing to flip uncontrollably and be damaged.
