FreeWing is expanding its Wing portfolio with a new model for beginners and advanced riders, replacing the old Go model. The Starboard subsidiary first presented the new model shown at the boot Düsseldorf in January. According to the manufacturer, the FreeWing Life is a compact wing with short, retracted wingtips designed to help riders learn and refine their skills on the foil. The intuitive handling and consistent performance should enable riders to consolidate their basics and go beyond them.
According to FreeWing, the Life is suitable for various areas of use - from learning the first steps on fins and refining foil skills to testing your own limits when carving, jumping or in the waves. The compact shape with the retracted wingtips comes into less contact with the water, which should make water starts, jibes and first tricks easier. This applies not only for use on the water, but also on snow or ice.
The FreeWing Life has a number of special technical features designed to improve its performance and handling. For example, the leading edge is designed at a 12.5-degree angle, which should generate more power and stability when the wing is deployed. The centre section is reinforced by a "Gradient Load Airframe" with a two-stage Dacron construction. A new HD 260 Dacron is used in the centre section and a 160g High Tenacity Dacron in the wingtips.
For maximum safety, FreeWing has equipped the Life with large horizontal and vertical windows made of durable PU material. The Wing is supplied with an aluminium Pistol Grip Boom as standard, which the manufacturer claims offers performance, control and comfort. The Life can also be fitted with handles as an option.
The FreeWing Life comes in five sizes from 2.5 to 6.5 square metres, including hip leash, bag and pump. Info at free-wing.com!
