The Race Week with Vincent Langer in Soma Bay has been running for five years, and the Foiling Week is coming for the first time in 2023. The programme is aimed at beginners with their first experience on a foil, ambitious foilers as well as racers and slalom riders who want to take part in regattas. The Foiling Week runs from 24 to 29 November. "The aim is to improve participants individually with lots of water lessons, video analysis, equipment tuning, strength training to prevent injuries and many other tricks to improve and feel confident," says Vincent Langer.
The basis for the foil week is Peter Müller's Surfmotion centre. "In addition to perfect wind conditions in Soma Bay, the Surfmotion centre offers everything your heart desires," enthuses Vincent. For example, there are theory rooms for daily photo and video analyses, and suitable slalom and foil equipment can also be hired on site. Safety on the water is guaranteed with GPS trackers and boats.
Vincent Langer offers a total of twelve places in the Foiling Week, which is also ideal for young people. In the small group and with two coaches, the focus is on individual training. There is a programme from morning to evening, and a fun regatta is also planned. Vincent: "I'm really looking forward to the week. It's the first Raceweek and we want to do everything perfectly. In addition to the extensive training concept, we have action all day long and we're taking every wind on the water with us! Soma Bay really offers the best conditions for this!"
The cost of the coaching is 63 euros per day, i.e. 380 euros for the entire week. Participants must book their flights and accommodation individually. According to the organisers, a stay at the Palm Royale Hotel is ideal, but the Caribbean World Resort/Solymar is also an option.
Soma Bay/Hurghada can be reached directly and cheaply by plane. Sports baggage can be brought along easily with various providers (Condor/Eurowings...). On-site storage space is available at the centre.
