Tent, beer bench, table and tablet computers for scoring. As usual: minimal equipment - but the freestylers are in a great mood.

At the last minute, the freestylers managed to finalise the elimination at the surf festival yesterday evening, which had already started on Saturday. Lina Erpenstein and Felix Volkhardt were each able to claim their first victory in a freestyle competition.

Record number of participants

With over fifty participants in total, the freestylers broke their participation record again this year. On the downside, it takes a lot of time (and wind) to complete such a big elimination. As the wind only reached usable strength for the freestylers in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday, time was extremely tight towards the end. While the women were able to ride out their final (Lina Erpenstein against Elena Dominick) on Saturday, the boys surfed into the sunset yesterday evening - after the festival had closed. Shortly before the last rays of sunshine crept into the horizon, Felix Volkhardt won the final against Julian Wiemar and thus scored his first victory in an official freestyle competition. The same applies to Lina Erpenstein: the multi-talented rider is actually known for her radical wave riding in the Wave World Cup, but has not been afraid to unpack her freestyle board recently - winning at her first attempt caused quite a stir. We are excited to see how her freestyle career continues.
