Following her foot injury, Lina Erpenstein is not yet fit for the World Cup in Pozo, which starts on Saturday. She hopes to be able to attack again in Tenerife!

"I'm still recovering from the Lisfranc torsion I suffered in the semifinal in Chile", Lina told the PWA. At the first World Cup of the season, she got a breaking wave on the leeward edge of the board while jibing out after a wave ride, which caused her to hit her back foot while it was loaded. "The recovery process is going well and last week I went sailing for the first time again. Just going back and forth though. Footstraps are still pretty hard on the foot and I’m just not fit enough to compete in 50 knots Pozo." Last year, Lina came second there and was in the running for the world title for a long time.

But Erpenstein is optimistic about the future: "My goal is to be 100% fit in Tenerife and I’m pretty confident that that’ll work out. In the meantime I'll be glued to the screen, watching the insane action!" The World Cup in Tenerife is a five-star event again this year and starts on 1 August. Lina Erpenstein has fond memories of the event: last year she won off El Medano!
