Wave sail test 2023: The Goya Eclipse Pro 4.7 in the individual evaluation with all strengths and weaknesses

As an alternative to the unchanged Banzai ( Test in Surf 1-2 2022 ), the 5-batten Eclipse Pro concept enters the race. The equipment with integrated carbon fibres and good protectors is flawless. The printed trim point makes it clear that the Eclipse wants to be rigged with visible loose leech - but this can be achieved with moderate tension. A little tension on the boom, on the other hand, is all it takes for the Goya to offer a super wind range: it is one of the most planing sails in the group, it sets itself at the right angle almost automatically and immediately starts to slip even without a lot of technique.

Pleasing: In the same trim, the pressure point remains stable for a long time, even in strong gusts. It is also particularly well-balanced in manoeuvres and on the wave: it pulls through the bottom turn with a lot of drive (which makes it easy to pick up speed), but always remains manageable and sufficiently agile.

Surf summary of the Goya Eclipse Pro 4.7

The Eclipse Pro is a particularly uncomplicated sail for heating up flat water, jumping around and for the surf. The wind range is excellent and greater than that of the Goya Banzai. However, if you like it a little lighter, you should keep an eye on the Banzai.
