LVM Versicherung donates 6000 euros prize money in the German Windsurf Cup
LVM Versicherung is donating prize money in the DWC this season. This will be distributed among the top three in the first race - regardless of the discipline.

LVM Versicherung is donating a total of 6,000 euros in prize money for the best riders in the German Windsurf Cup in the 2023 season. The long-standing main sponsor is organising the "LVM Grand Prix". At each of the six DWC events, the focus is on the first race: the winner receives 500 euros, while second and third place can look forward to 300 euros and 200 euros respectively.

"Focussing on the opening race promises excitement. Because nobody can know in advance in which discipline the LVM Versicherung Grand Prix will be awarded. In future, every tour stop of the Multivan Windsurf Cup will offer a real highlight on the opening day," says the agency Choppy Water, which organises the Multivan Windsurf Cup. The prize winners will be celebrated at a special ceremony immediately after the race. Of course, all races will still count towards the event ranking and the annual ranking list.

"We are delighted to further expand our long-standing successful collaboration with the Multivan Windsurf Cup with the LVM Insurance Grand Prix. Above all, however, we are delighted to be able to give the athletes special recognition by honouring them with the prize money. We now have friendships with many of the athletes and we are always happy to see the LVM sailing stickers whizzing across the water at the events, but also at the spots around the world," says Sebastian Wulff from LVM Versicherung.

Additional motivation for the starters

Matthias Regber, Managing Director of Choppy Water, sees the prize money as a further incentive for the starters: "We are delighted about the expansion of LVM Versicherung's involvement. For the first time, the LVM Versicherung Grand Prix offers prize money at national tour stops of the Multivan Windsurf Cup. This is certainly an additional motivation for the windsurfers to start the regattas of the top series at full throttle."

However, the LVM Grand Prix is not the only innovation in the German Windsurf Cup: in the new season, there will be a separate classification in addition to the open class, in which only Finns will compete. Matthias Regber explained everything about the classes in the DWC in detail in an interview. In addition, young starters will be supported in travelling to the island cups and regular starters will be rewarded with a partial refund of the entry fee.
