Introducing newcomers without regatta experience to competitions is one of the aims of the Racer of the Sea events. Leon Delle and Oliver-Tom Schliemann are offering a Foil Academy at the event in Kellenhusen to break down fears of contact in the foil area and improve the starters' sailing skills.
"Under the guidance of professional coaches, you will learn all the important aspects of windfoiling. This will cover riding technique as well as material-specific and theoretical aspects," the organisers write about the seminar. A boat is always present on the water to give the participants direct feedback and give them a feeling of safety.
A maximum of ten people can take part in the Foil Academy so that we can cater for everyone individually and offer optimum learning opportunities. Interested parties should therefore register quickly at 1001grad-events.com
If you don't have your own foil equipment or simply fancy trying something new, you can try out the latest foil equipment from Starboard & Severne.
There will be a total of three Racer of the Sea events in 2023, the first of which will take place as part of the surf festival on Fehmarn from 18 to 21 May. For the first time, there will also be prize money to be won. 1001 euros will be distributed per event, split between the Finn, Foil Mixed and Women divisions. Special prizes such as a sponsorship deal, sails or camp participation will be distributed among the young starters.
