Just how attractive the Racer of the Sea everyman regatta is was demonstrated at the Surf festival on Fehmarn seen: Almost 60 starters of all ages and skill levels racing around the course with lots of fun. The fun contest, supported by Starboard and Severne, will now take place in Kellenhusen from 9 to 11 June. The annual "Seebrücke im Lichtermeer" event organised by Tourismus-Service Ostseebad Kellenhusen will run in parallel on Saturday, with live music and food stalls as well as a light and laser show with a firework finale in the evening.
It starts on Friday with a Foil Academy for beginners and advanced surfers. At 13:00, Oliver-Tom Schliemann and Leon Delle, the two initiators of the Racer of the Sea, will be guests at the Surfer Talk on the main stage and will provide information on their innovative approach, their beginner-friendly competition format, the other events on offer and the windsurfing community itself.
There are already 50 starters registered for the Racer of the Sea in Kellenhusen. As always, there will be a group that only takes to the water with fins and a group that can choose freely between fin and foil. The online surf shop Wind Lounge will also be on site with the latest test equipment. The Wind Lounge team will not only provide test equipment for all participants and visitors, but will also be happy to answer any questions about the event and the sport of windsurfing. In the evening, there will be a joint BBQ at the Kellenhusen water sports centre, supported by the local Nahkauf Schlüter supermarket, and cocktails from Salty Elements / Südkap Surfing Sylt.
On Sunday, after the skippers' meeting, it's back on the water, with the award ceremony scheduled for 3 pm. As always this season, there is prize money of 1001 euros, sponsored by Wind Lounge.
